We're all set up at the Holiday Magic event downtown! There's plenty to do here - we've already seen two choirs sing holiday music, a puppet show, Indian dancing, and a dog show with some pretty crazy tricks! Of course visitors can also stop by the Bizzy Beads & Gifts booth and make a bookmark or a memory wire necklace, or browse some of our pre-made gifts. Come on down and bring the whole family!
There are also light shows with Trans Syberian Orchestra music on the hour every hour. This video was shot from inside the Bizzy Beads booth - we've got a perfect spot right at the end of the row!
I just finished hammering 20 or so dimes flat and stamping them with words like "faith", "love", and "joy". I'm making these one-of-a-kind charms in preparation for a big new event that Bizzy Beads will be participating in this weekend.
Perhaps you've seen or heard the commercials for St. Louis Holiday Magic on local tv or radio stations? No? Let me tell you a little of what I know about it and about Bizzy Beads's participation in it.
St. Louis Holiday Magic is a new event this year at America's Center (the convention center attached to the Edward Jones Dome). The CVC has brought in a bunch of vendors to create a new holiday shopping experience for the St. Louis area. There will be carnival rides, pet adoption, all sorts of local vendors, and of course, your very own favorite bead shop.
Unfortunately, I can't pack up all the beads in my little VW Jetta and head downtown, but I can take a bunch of kits and handmade goods to sell. So, if you're in downtown St. Louis December 4-6, stop by, say hi, and make a unique gift for that special person on your list.
You can find us 12pm - 9pm on Friday, 10am - 9pm on Saturday, or 11am - 5pm on Sunday! Hope to see you there!

It's that time of year again...the busiest shopping day is only a week away!
Just a day or two after Halloween, I went into a store that had become a full-fledged Winter Wonderland and thought to myself, "You are now entering the Season of Spending." For me, the few weeks between Halloween and Christmas are not only home to Christmas, but also several family birthdays and anniversaries. The thought of spending all my time trying to manage my busy lifestyle and adding in shopping and wrestling crowds and traffic during this season was overwhelming to me.
Enter: Advent Conspiracy.
What is Advent Conspiracy? It is a movement that asks the question: "What if Christmas became a world-changing event again?" I could go on and on with more info, but invite you to check out their website and info for yourself. It's www.adventconspiracy.org.
In order to combat losing Christmas to "the Season of Spending" this year, I'm taking a different approach to my Black Friday Sale. I still want to pass on savings to you, but want to do things differently. You can check out the details of the sale below, but I'm also going to be donating a portion of the profits from the day after Thanksgiving to Living Water International - an organization that builds wells worldwide providing clean water.
WOOOHOOO! It's Bizzy Beads's birthday next week! Our magic numbers are 6 and 1 this year. 6 years in business and 1 year under my ownership.
To celebrate, we're having a MAJOR SALE (any Christmas Story fans out there? remember the "major award" that Ralphie's dad receives?)!
The celebration is happening October 16 and 17. We'll be open and partying from 10-6 on Friday and 10-5 on Saturday. Everything will be on sale and we'll have a special raffle.
But that's not enough for us. We also want to have a sale on our parties this month. If you call during the month of October to put a deposit down on a party we'll give you $20 off the total party price. Just for clarification (since I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how to word this completely clearly), the party doesn't have to happen during the month of October. So take advantage of this special deal and book a party with us.
Thanks for being awesome customers and supporting Bizzy Beads!

Welp, here it is--the long overdue and much anticipated blog post about our weeks of 2009 Bizzy Beads Summer Camp!
In my estimation, this year's summer camp was a huge success! We made all sorts of a fun projects with beads and other cool materials. The most raved about project from this year would have to be our tile dry erase board. We beaded a handle for the dry erase board and then decorated the tile with paint pens. Our second place winner for most popular project of the summer was our recycled jewelry. We made pendants out of bottlecaps and fun paper, rings out of old Scrabble tile pieces and decorated dominos to create colorful keychains.
The girls learned so many things during camp! Those things include (but definitely aren't limited to) the following:
*How to use rubber stamps to create custom beads that they can use in other jewelry.
*How to tie beach towels together to create the perfect bag for toting their flip-flops or a yummy snack to the pool.
*How to create fashionable jewelry from unusual items.
*How to make their very own beads out of paper and glue.
*How to embellish ordinary flip flops or other clothing items with crystals for a little splash of bling.
I learned a lot during camp too:
*Taylor Swift is super popular among girls age 7-14 and a lot of girls can sing along to every one of her songs.
*There are probably about a bajillion different variations on the classic "why did the chicken cross the road" joke. ("Why did the chicken cross the road?"... "Because he thought it would be fun!"..."Because the monkey told him to!"...so on and so forth...)
*Lots of girls pretend to not like The Jonas Brothers but then can tell you every detail about Kevin's recent engagement.
*I LOVE all of the kids who come to Bizzy Beads!
So there it is, a wrap up of our summer camps! Be sure to check out the pictures below of our campers and the projects.
